Aleia Gonzalez and Bryanna Beasley: Guitar and Flute Duo Live In Concert

Aleia González holds a Master of Music degree in guitar performance from UMKC. As a performance artist, she is constantly seeking opportunities to collaborate with singers and instrumentalists of the Kansas City area. Part of this personal initiative include performances for the Casual Concert Series of the Kansas City Guitar Society, participation in new music concerts by fellow UMKC composers, and collaborations with ensembles such as KC VITAs. Similarly, she always tries to include the music from her home country, Paraguay, in her concert repertoire. Currently, education plays an essential role in Aleia’s musical life: she teaches guitar at Washburn University, Rockhurst University, MidAmerica Nazarene University, Americana Music Academy, and Palen Music Center.

Bryanna Beasley is a flutist, musicologist, and long-time Kansas City resident. Beasley freelances in the Kansas City metro teaching and performing as an orchestral, chamber, and church musician. She has performed with the Topeka Symphony Orchestra and Midwest Chamber Ensemble. Beasley was selected to perform a lecture recital in 2022 at the International Alliance for Women in Music conference on the topic “Musical Multiplicities: The Life and Roles of Mel Bonis through the Lens of her Sonata for Flute and Piano.” She received her Bachelor of Music degree in flute performance in 2017 studying with Dr. Mary Karen Clardy at the University of North Texas. During her master’s degree studies at the University of Missouri-Kansas City, she found a second musical side of herself as a musicologist. Beasley graduated in 2021 with a Master of Music degree in musicology advised by Dr. William Everett and in flute performance studying with Dr. Mary Posses.
